Our concept is based on a belief in the innovative potential of individuals. The key to this approach is the use of an "enterprise facilitator" who is hired to help unlock the ideas and dreams of the local entrepreneurs.
The facilitator seeks to provide individuals with the technical assistance they need in order to turn their ideas into reality. This may mean advising people on ways to cut through red tape, or gaining expertise in writing a business plan, or tracking down seed capital, or putting the entrepreneur in contact with potential market contacts.
What's different about this approach is the close, one-to-one attention given every individual who seeks out the facilitator's assistance. All too often, good ideas with great potential die before they have a chance to blossom. Vince Robinson, current facilitator for LCEDC, has said that many people have excellent ideas which they know will work, but they get discouraged for one reason or another and their ideas fall by the wayside. "I try to explain how the business world works and keep a positive 'you can do it' attitude with the clients. While the motivation for the project must come from the client, our goal is to put things in place and clear the way for things to happen. We work together to get things done."
LCEDC is committed to providing tools to entrepreneurs and business owners that will lead to the establishment of a more diversified business base and connection to the larger world. By providing these tools, our goal is to expand the impact of our organization to create a broader sense of "community" within Lincoln County and to make the results of the efforts of LCEDC clearly felt and seen by all county residents.
